Arriving
Reception in Guatemala City airport. Transportation to Antigua. Hotel.
Day 2
Monday
Antigua, colonial city
Visit Antigua, the real colonial gem of Central America. Lodging in Antigua. Hotel.
Day 3
Tuesday
Pacaya volcano
Transportation to the Pacaya Volcano National Park. In the afternoon, transportation to the central highland towards Lake Atitlan. Camping at 2700m for an incredible view of the lake.
Day 4
Wednesday
Lake Atitlán
Hiking on the western border of the lake, follow an itinerary out of the “beaten path” and let you discover the daily Mayan activities. Lodging in San Juan with a Mayan family.
Day 5
Thursday
Chichicastenango market
Visit the market. This town is known for the colours of its market, but also for the religious syncretism that you can see there. In the afternoon, transportation to the town of Totonicapán, in the heart of the Mayan Highlands. In this town, people will show you weaving workshops.You will be served dinner and lodge in a house within this community.

Friday
Santiaguito volcano and San Francisco El Alto market
At sunrise, transportation at the foot of the Santa Maria Volcano to start a three-hour (round trip) hike to the Viewpoint of the Santiaguito volcano. Observation of the volcano´s activity. Then, visit of the San Francisco El Alto market, which is the biggest indigenous market of Central America. Near the market, you will see a Mayan ceremony in a magnificent natural place. In the afternoon, visit others Mayan towns (San Andrés Xecul and its colourful church). Camping at the foot of another volcano: Chicabal volcano, a Mayan sacred place.

Saturday
Chicabal Volcano and its lagoon
Hiking around the lagoon, a Mayan sacred place (where the earth, water and sky join). Superb jungle-clad lagoon surroundings. Then, car transportation to the foot of the mountain range to a coffee plantation. Incredible views of the Santiaguito volcano and its eruptions. Camping in the plantation.
Day 8
Sunday
Coffee plantation and the Santiaguito Volcano
A walk in the plantation (canopy tour if you want). Observation of the active volcano from its south side. Birds watching (special platform for bird watching). Then, back to the highlands and camping in a reserve of quetzal birds in San Marcos.
Day 9
Monday
Tajumulco Volcano
Hiking the Tajumulco volcano, 4220 m, the highest point in Central America (4 hours of hiking - round trip - + 600 - 600). The walk starts at 3600m (access by track crossing 600 m under the peak of the colossal volcano), a moderate walk. At the peak you can see an impressive panorama of the mountain range, the highlands and views to the Pacific Ocean. Back to Quetzaltenango. Camping.
Day 10
Tuesday
Mayan villages and thermal springs
Visit Mayan villages and walk up the mountain to Las Fuentes Georginas, a thermal spring located in a dense rainforest. Visit the archaeological site of Iximche. Lodging in Antigua. Hotel.
Day 11
Wednesday
Copán, archaeological site (Honduras)
Transportation to Copán (Honduras). Visit the archaeological site (considered the Athens of the Mayan world) and the sculpture museum. Lodging in Copan. Hotel.
Day 12
Thursday
Quiriguá, archaeological site and Rio Dulce
Outing to Puerto Barrios. Visit the archaeological site of Quiriguá, which has incredible stelas, the highest discovery in the Mayan World. Lodging in Rio Dulce. Hotel or camping.
Day 13
Friday
Rio Dulce and Livingston
Visit San Felipe Castle, which defends the river of pirate attacks. Then, boat excursion on the river to the sea and Livingston, an African Caribbean town. You can see the amazing river, the vegetation that cover the border and the tropical birds. In the afternoon, transportation to Flores and El Remate. Camping in the border of Lake Peten Itza.
Day 14
Saturday
Tikal, archaeological site.
Visit of this ancient ceremonial centre in the rainforest. Tikal is probably the archaeological site that impresses tourists the most. You will see the typical flora and fauna. In the afternoon back to Flores and fly to Guatemala city (flight at 18h00). Transportation to Antigua. Hotel.

Return flight
Transportation to Guatemala international airport.

- All transportation in a private vehicle for the group: From Day 1 to Day 9: with two vehicles Delica 4X4 or equivalent. From Day 10 to Day 15: with a minibus Delica 4X4 and a simple minibus.
- Lodging: 7 camp sites, 2 nights in a Mayan family and 5 nights in a hotel. Lodging in double or triple rooms in hotels, depending on the group, tents for 2 people. Individual tent/room: US $ 145
- Breakfast and dinner at the camp site and with Mayan families, picnic during the hike at Lake Atitlan on Day 4 and for the hikes at Pacaya, Chicabal and Tajumulco volcanoes (14 meals).
